About Castle Air Shares

My name is Christopher J. Castle. I am a Professional Engineer and I own an Engineering Consulting Firm. I fell in love with flying early in life, as the child of two pilot parents. Ever since I can remember, I’ve been addicted to airplanes and the pursuit of making flying accessible to others. I am a Commercial, Multi-Engine, Instrument Rated Pilot, and I working to complete my CFI. I have experience managing and maintaining Diamond DA40 and DA42 aircraft.

N614DS will be based out of St. George, UT (KSGU). We can base the aircraft out of Salt Lake City (KSLC), Hurricane (1L8), Cedar City (KCDC), or Logan (KLGU), depending on interest.

We are offering two scenarios based on interest. A Managed Fractional Ownership Option and a Managed Lease Option.

The Plane

The Airplane

I have owned this amazing aircraft for the last 7 years. I have flown it from Coast to Coast on many occasions and it is a solid, low cost, and extremely fun to fly airplane! I picked the Diamond for its highly efficient and reliable Lycoming IO-360 engine, its comfortable seats, and the very convenient baggage and rear seat access. I can easily take two passengers, baggage, and full fuel with me all the way up to 13,000ft without issue, while making 135kt TAS, and only burn 8GPH!!!

Originally I purchased the Diamond from my friend back in 2007. I used it primarily for my engineering business, but I also created a successful rental and training business, in which our company provided a concierge style lease experience to our customers. Our business was based in Austin, TX and we have since moved to St. George.

Now that I live here in St. George, I am looking to provide a very affordable and turn-key aircraft ownership experience to my fellow pilots in the St. George area.

In preparation of this new business, I have completely overhauled N614DS. Last summer I had a factory remanufactured IO-360 engine and an overhauled Hartzell propeller installed. We completed a recent Airworthiness Directive from Diamond and performed our annual as of March 23rd of this year. I’ve since put over 50 hours on the new engine flying from Utah to Louisiana a few times. The new engine is working very well (135KTS, 12,000ft, @ 8GPH)! Currently we have stripped all the decals off the aircraft in preparation for a new paint job and striping kit. We will have the paint job and new striping completed by mid-May.

  • If you run the numbers you will quickly calculate that a managed approach to aircraft ownership or leasing makes a lot of sense.
  • The Diamond DA 40 is the safest General Aviation aircraft on the market and it’s fun to fly!
  • Owning or leasing an aircraft is an excellent tax deduction and makes sense for most business owners.
  • There’s no waiting in a security line at the airport…just get in your plane and go!
